Yannik through to semis

Yannik Kumara moved a yard closer to defending his title when he beat Chanaka Perera to advance to the semi-finals of the 100th RCGC Club Championship played at the club course yesterday.

The 13-year-old Reshan Algama, the youngest participant in the event, gave a good account of himself when he pushed the much-fancied Rusi Captain, who had to fight hard for a semi-final berth.

In the other two quarter-finals, Husni Uwise overcame Rajeeve Rajapakse, while Chandana Gunasekera got the better of Sudath Kumara.

Meanwhile, in the Ladies Silver Cup, Niloo Jayathilake received a walkover while Kaya Daluwatte got the better of Arika Wickremasinghe.
