The Chinese national who had arrived in the country with two forged passports has been deported to China yesterday under Sri Lankan police security, Public Security Minister Tiran Alles said.

On 18 May 2023, two Chinese nationals and an Egyptian had arrived in Sri Lanka from Dubai and one of the Chinese men had produced a Guinea passport at the Katunayake Airport.

Immigration and Emigration officers at the BIA had denied entry to the Chinese national upon discovering that the passport he had produced was forged.

However, he was later released following a request by State Minister Arundika Fernando. Later, it was found that the Chinese man who was allowed to enter

Sri Lanka, was a wanted person in China.

Accordingly, he was arrested and detained at the Welikada Intermediate Detention Center.

The Chinese embassy too had reportedly requested to provide security personnel to deport the Chinese national to his country where he is wanted for a narcotic-related offence.
