In yet another capacity, The Colombo Club, perhaps the oldest and most prestigious clubs started in British times , recently changed the course of their history by appointing Anushya Coomaraswamy as their first Lady Chairperson. Anushya has been Group Finance Director of John

Keels Holdings PLC and was at that time the first woman to be appointed to the Board of a blue chip company in Sri Lanka. This was previously a club for men and admitted women to their membership only as recently as 1995. It is now once again situated in the Taj Samudra where it was first begun in the old building of the Hotel. Our congratulations go to all three of them.
