STF nabs man with counterfeit cigarettes in Ragama

Police Special Task Force seized a stock of a foreign brand of cigarettes, which had been smuggled into the country sans paying duty, from a shop in Ragama in the weekend.

The STF Organised Crime Detection Unit II sleuths on a tip off, raided a shop in Sheraton Park area in Ragama, and took a 44-year-old man into custody with the counterfeit cigarettes.

The seized stock contained 40,000 sticks of the brand of Argos Crush cigarettes, the sale of which is prohibited in Sri Lanka.

OIC STF Organised Crime Detection Unit II S. K. Kahingala is conducting inquiries on the instructions of STF Commandant DIG Waruna Jayasundara and STF ASP in charge of Narcotics and Intelligence Sagara Kulasekara.
