Kandy favourites to continue unbeaten streak

Defending champions Kandy Sports Club will be in Colombo for a final time in the ongoing league season when they lock horns with Sri Lanka Navy Sports Club at Welisara tomorrow.

Kandy will hope to extend their unbeaten streak heading into what will be their first match of the Super Four Cup segment, with the encounter beginning at 4 pm.

Kandy SC saved their best performance for the last encounter of the first round of the league tournament, easily beating fellow title contender Havelock SC last week, to end with 39 points.

CR & FC sit second on 34 points, with the Havies in third.

Damith Dissanayake will once again lead the Kandy outfit with

Praveen Charles continuing his Kandy SC excellent season as their prop forward.

Kandy SC will miss the services of Lasith Attanagoda, Wewala Panditha, Dhanushka Ranjan, Heshan Kalhara and Diluksha Dange due to injury worries.

Meanwhile the Sailors will heavily depend on the kicking of Thilina Weerasinghe who has done well for the Sailors so far. Meanwhile, Musheen Faleel was outstanding for the Welisara outfit and their skipper and former Isipathana scrum half Harsha Maduranga has also been key. He has combined the forwards and three-quarters well and excelling as a leader.

Navy just managed to scrape through to fourth position to qualify for the Cup segment of the Super four and will need a win badly, but Kandy threequarters look a yard faster than their opponents.

Once again, the battle will be between the two class coaching staffs led by Fazil Marija (Kandy SC) and Saliya Kumara (Navy SC).

Raveen Alexander will referee the game.
