GANGARAMA NAVAM PERAHERA BEGINS TOMORROW

● The President and former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa are expected to enshrine the casket with the Sacred Relic on the ceremonial tusker on the first day

The 45th Navam Maha Perahera of the Hunupitiya Gangaramaya will parade the streets of Colombo tomorrow and on Monday (February 5 and 6).

The Perahera will start from Park Road near Gangaramaya and will parade Sri Jinarathana Mawatha, Hunupitiya Lake Road, W.A.D. Ramanayake Mawatha, Sir James Peiris Mawatha, Navam Mawatha, Muththiah Road, Braybrooke

Street, Sri Jinarathana Mawatha and Hunupitiya Cross Road before returning to the Gangaramaya Temple.

Viharadhikari of the Gangaramaya Temple Dr. Kirinde Assaji Thera said that President Ranil Wickremesinghe and former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa will enshrine the casket with the Sacred Relic on the ceremonial tusker on the first day of the perahera and the final day’s rituals will be performed with the participation of Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawadena, Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa and former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

An array of cultural items have been organised to be performed during the perahera while the

Mal Perahera which commenced on January 29 will continue till tomorrow.
