Wildlife conservators discover leopard carcass sans limbs and teeth

The carcass of a leopard with its limbs cut off and the teeth removed has led to a formal investigation conducted by the Department of Wildlife Conservation.

It had been recovered by wildlife conservators on Thursday from the Bagawanthalawa estate on the boundaries of the Samanala forest reserve. Range Forest Conservator in Nallathanniya, Prabhash Karunatilleka said he initiated a formal investigation to arrest the suspects who killed the leopard for its limbs and teeth. He said the carcass was referred to Randenigala Veterinary Unit for postmortem examination after submitting a report to the Hatton Magistrate.
