Party Leaders have decided to take up the debate on the 22nd Amendment to the constitution on October 6 and 7, the Parliament media unit said.

The vote on the 22nd Amendment will be taken up on October 7, 2022.

Sessions of the House are to be held for five days next week. Accordingly, Parliament will meet on Monday, October 3, 2022. October 3, therefore will be confined to oral questions.

The 22nd Amendment to the constitution seeks to reduce some powers of the Executive President. Some amendments are expected to be moved in accordance with the Supreme Court determination, as it has been held by the judiciary that some sections needed to be approved by a referendum in addition to a two-thirds majority.
