The First Asian woman to be elected President of CIMA

Like all other Bishopians, I'm very proud that Melanie Kanaka from our Alma Mater has gained international fame being the first Asian woman to be elected President of

The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants [CIMA]. This is the world's largest professional body of Management Accountants, also as Co-chair of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants which represents the combined membership of CIMA and the American Institute of CPA'S [AICPA]. We are proud of Melani and congratulate her for getting this most prestigious honour which is good for our nation too. Bishop's College has a proud record; the nations first woman senator the late Lady Adeline Molamure, our first Executive President, the late J.R. Jayewardene and Prime Minster Ranil Wiickremesinghe who has been PM six times. They are all Bishopians.
