GOVT. APPROVES TRAIN FARE INCREASE

Due to the recent fuel price hike, the government has granted approval to increase train fares and other related charges.

The approval was granted during the cabinet meeting on Monday.the recent fuel price increases led to recurrent losses to the Railway Department, resulting in their inability to provide a better service. The proposal was put forward as the train fares had not been amended during the past five years. Other railway charges have also not been revised in the past 14 years. While considering all aspects, the Cabinet ministers had approved the proposal submitted by the Transport and Highways Minister.
