Sri Lankan Athletes shine at Asian Youth Para Meet

Sri Lanka bagged one Gold, one Silver and two Bronze medals at the fourth Asian Youth Para Games, which is currently in progress in Manama, Bahrain. The meet commenced on December 2 and will continue until December 6.
The best effort came from swimmer Galina Basnayake, who won the Girls’ 400m freestyle (5-610) final with a personal best of five minutes, 25.27s. Meanwhile, in the same event in the Boys’ category, Naveed Raheem won the Bronze with a personal best of five minutes, 20.59s.
In the track and field events, Jason Jayawardena’s performance of 6.64m in the Boys’ shot-put (F40) event earned him a Silver medal, while Janani Wickremasinghe claimed Bronze in the Girls’ 200m (T47) final with a time of 29.36s.
A total of eight athletes are representing the country at the meet.
