142nd Battle of the Blues fixed for next week

The 142nd Battle of the Blues between Royal College, Colombo and S. Thomas’ College, Mt. Lavinia is set to be played at the SSC Grounds in Colombo from October 28 to 30.

The Royal-thomian Big Match, which is the second-longest uninterrupted cricket series in the world, was postponed twice this year and will now take place behind closed doors according to a media release by the Joint Match Organising Committee.

The players have entered into a bio-secure environment in preparation for the three-day encounter.

S. Thomas’ College Director of Sports and Overseer of Cricket, Dinesh Kumarasinghe opined that the players of both sides have some hard work ahead of them to physically ready themselves for a three-day match after such a long hiatus.

“It will be tough for the players of both teams. With this current weather, we could not practice a great deal. Going for a three-day game is not easy without physical preparation. The players entered the bubble starting from today,” he said.
