Soar in chicken prices increases demand for game meat

The poaching of wild animals in national parks has been increased because of the increase in chicken prices in the market, Sri Lanka Wildlife Conservation Officers’ Association (SLWCOA) said.

Accordingly, two committees on National Policy and on Economic Stabilization would be set up.

The committee on National Policies would set the common priorities of Parliament to guide the formulation of medium and longterm national policies while the Subcommittee on Economic Stabilisation will reach agreement on the shortand medium-term programmes related to economic stabilisation.

The inaugural meeting of the National Council was held at the Parliament complex yesterday (29) under the chairmanship of Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.
