Funeral of ITN sports journalist Liyanage today

Veteran sports journalist and programme producer Kapila Liyanage of the Independent Television Network (ITN) passed away in Colombo following a sudden cardiac arrest.

The funeral of the late Liyanage will take place today (17) at the Public Cemetery in Welipara, thalawathugoda at 6.00 p.m. The late Liyanage (49) was a father of two and was a sports journalist for over two decades and was an old boy of Ananda College, Colombo.

He had covered many international sports events in the past including the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing, China and the 2012 Paralympic Games in London, England.

The late Liyanage has also won several awards and accolades in appreciation of his services to sports production. The remains of late Liyanage lies at his residence No.53d,9th Lane, wickramasinghapura, Thalawathugoda.
