HONOUR TO OUR COUNTRY

Farah Rumy who created history by being the first Sri Lankan to be elected to a Swiss Cantonal Parliament, the Solothurn Parliament brought honour to our country with her achievement. She also organised many projects to help the elderly and the lonely in her hometown. We have many lonely elders here whose children live abroad, they are suffering more than ever now as the places which organised weekly get togethers are closed due to the pandemic. They looked forward to these outings to meet others with similar problems. One of the things Farah did was to organise groups of young people to talk to these elders, send them birthday cards and show them that they care about them. It would be good if younger ones among us, who have more time on their hands now with no leisure activities could reach out in some way to those they know who live on their own and have no children here. Reaching out to others in need is a good philosophy for life.
