A LEGEND IN HER OWN LIFETIME

A legend in her own lifetime is Irangani Serasinghe nee Meedeniya, undisputed Queen of our stage and screen. I’m proud that we share the same Alma Mater, although she left school soon after I entered its hallowed portals. A lively, bubbly personality, Irangani is an icon of our time and it’s always a joy to meet her. It was through her interest in drama that she met her late husband Winston Serasinghe. She has won many awards, is a mother of two sons and a grandmother and in later life has played the role of a Matriarch often which is her forte at the moment. Among popular television shows she has appeared in, which were instant hits were Doo daruwo, Salsapuna and Aluthgedera. She was also very interested in environmental issues and devoted time to Ruk Rakaganno, to save trees. We wish her more years as an icon in all her roles in life.
